While the Surface Pro has traditionally been one of Microsoft's more utilitarian products to behold, its welcome redesign does a lot bring things more in line with Apple’s shapely iPad Pro. Can the Surface Pro 8 justify the markup? We spent a week with one to find out. Especially since its near-on essential Type Cover keyboard and Surface Pen stylus are still sold separately. So much so that it's launching at £999 - a whole £200 more than its predecessor at launch - meaning all those upgrades come at a premium. With a slicker display, sleeker design and more power than ever, this is an undeniably capable machine. It arrives with a major facelift, upgrades inside and out, and Microsoft's shiny new Windows 11 operating system straight out of the box. Credit where it's due, the Pro 8 isn't resting on its former laurels.
